Israel GO Trip Informational Meeting- July 24 at 7:00 pm

This informational meeting is for those interested in the Israel Tour and would like more details about the trip. Please let us know if you will be attending in-person at the Kearney Campus (Conference Room B) or joining the meeting via Zoom.

ESTIMATED COST = $2,700 + airfare (round trip airfare purchased and booked on your own)

  • Includes hotel (double occupancy), ground transportation, entrance fees, breakfast, dinner, and tips
  • For a single occupancy hotel room-an additional charge of $1,050
  • $1,500 GO Trip grant is for those 39 years and younger who have never been to Israel.

 AIRLINE INFO

  • Round-trip airfare from the USA – Tel Aviv, Israel. You are responsible for securing and purchasing your own flights. Group travel is not being arranged.
  • Depart USA by March 4 for Tel Aviv, Israel Ben Gurion Airport and arrive by March 5 in Tel Aviv. 
  • Depart on March 15 from Tel Aviv Ben Gurion Airport. We prefer you book the return flight between midnight – 3:00 am on March 15. If a different time is needed please contact us before purchasing the airline ticket to coordinate ground travel logistics. Transfer to the airport will be arranged for you. No hotel accommodations are provided the night of March 14.

DAY 1

Fly from the United States to Israel – (round trip airfare on your own) 

DAY 2 Tel Aviv

Arrive at Ben Gurion Airport and transfer to your hotel in Tel-Aviv.  Transfer from airport to hotel is included. Meal is on your own.

DAY 3:  Caesarea, Mt. Carmel, Nazareth 

We will drive along the Mediterranean coast to Caesarea, home of ancient Roman procurators and the capitol city of the Roman Province of Palestine. Here St. Peter preached and St. Paul was imprisoned for two years. We continue to the sparkling port city of Haifa to ascend Mount Carmel, home of the prophets Elijah and Elisha. Travel will continue to Megiddo where we will walk a site famous for its strategic trade route. Because of its location, Megiddo was the site of several battles. Then we continue to Nazareth, to visit Nazareth Village, an exact replica of first century houses, a synagogue, mikveh, and olive presses. Overnight for three nights: Nazareth (B, D)

DAY 4:  Nazareth, The Ministry of Christ in the Galilee

This morning, we will visit Mary’s Well and walk through the Church of the Annunciation that is built over the home of Jesus. We will explore Nazareth’s Old City and its market and visit Younes’ Store. Then, we drive to the Mount of the Beatitudes where our Lord gave the Sermon on the Mount. We then take a scenic boat ride on the Sea of Galilee – one of the day’s highlights. We will also see the “Jesus Boat” a 2,000 year-old boat found on the shores of Magdala. We will finish the day atthe Jordan River with an option for baptism and avisit to Capernaumto see the house of St. Peter and the synagogue where our Lord preached. Dinner and overnight at your hotel.

DAY 5:  Caesarea Philippi, Panias

Following breakfast, we will leave Nazareth and travel to the ruins of Tel Dan to see the altar built by King Jeroboam I and learn about where the “House of David” fragment from the First Temple period was discovered. We continue on to Caesarea Philippi, where Peter told the Lord, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the Living God!” and travel to the birthplace of the Jordan River at Panias. Then a scenic drive along the Golan Heights for some beautiful views of Syria and Jordan as well as Israel, arriving in Bethlehem for dinner.

DAY 6Jericho, Qumran, Dead Sea  

We start the morning by driving to Jericho and going to the sycamore tree and Mount Temptation and stop at the Jordan River and experience its water. In Jericho, we will visit a desert oasis and learn about the conquest of Canaan. In the afternoon, we will drive to the Dead Sea area to see the caves at Qumran where the Dead Sea Scrolls were hidden. We continue our drive further south along the Dead Sea and stop in place for a swim in the mineral-rich waters of the Dead Sea, renowned for its healing properties. Overnight: Bethlehem (B, D)

DAY 7:  Ein Karem, Bethlehem, Bethany

This morning, we visit the Church of the Nativity, the traditional Grotto of Jesus’ birth. Then we drive to the Herodium, home to an impressive palace dating to the time of King Herod. We continue our drive to Bethany, the Church of Lazarus and visit his tomb. After lunch, we visit the shepherds’ fields, where the angels appeared to the shepherds who were watching over their flocks during the night. And, we will plan to visit in the evening as well. Overnight: Bethlehem (B, D)

DAY 8:  Jerusalem, Mt. of Olives – Mt. Zion 

After breakfast, we drive to the top of Mt. Olives for a panoramic view of Jerusalem for a better understanding of its geography and some of the key sites surrounding the area. Continue our walk on the Palm Sunday Road to the Garden of Gethsemane. At Gethsemane is the Rock of Agony where Jesus uttered His last prayer. Spend some time in reflection and meditation inside the dimly lit church and a visit to the garden tomb. We continue to visit the Cenacle, the place of the Last Supper and Pentecost. We will also visit the Church of Saint Peter in Gallicantu, the house of the high priest of the Jews, Caiaphas, where Jesus was imprisoned for the night, and where Peter denied our Lord, and the teaching steps. We will stop and visit the Western Walland head to our hotel in Jerusalem. Dinner and overnight at your hotel in Jerusalem.

DAY 9:  Jerusalem, The Passion of Jesus’ Last Hours

After breakfast, we leave to enter the Old City of Jerusalem to visit the Western Wall, Dome of the Rock, and Western Wall Tunnel. We will go underground and witness Jerusalem’s earliest remains, including a Canaanite wall, the possible site of David’s palace, and a spectacular water system that terminates in the Pool of Siloam. Then on toSt. Anne’s Church and the Pools of Bethsaida. After that, we start walking the path of the Via Dolorosa through the markets of the Old City until we reach the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Celebrate the death, burial and the resurrection of Jesus. Dinner and overnight at your hotel in Jerusalem.

DAY 10Holocaust Museum 

This morning, we will drive to the Holocaust Museum /Memorial and a visit to The Israel Museum and discover an enormous model of NT Jerusalem. Dinner and overnight at your hotel in Jerusalem. 

DAY 11:  Free Day in Jerusalem

This morning, we will have free time in Jerusalem before we transfer to Ben Gurion airport for your return flight home. No hotel accommodations are provided the night of March 14.  

Day 12:  Tel Aviv / Travel

Fly out of Tel Aviv. Flights should depart in the early hours of March 15th between 12:00 and 3:00 am.

A valid passport is required for this trip and must be valid through September 16, 2024.
