The Buffalo County Emergency Management Director and city officials are currently assessing the need. When volunteer crews are needed, we want to be ready to respond.

Supplies Available at New Life: We have bottled water, snack items, blankets, pillows, sheets, and towels available at no cost for those in need due to the flooding. Stop by the church at 2715 West 39th street in Kearney to pick up to these supplies Monday-Friday 8:30 am to 5:oo pm. Please use entrance 3.

Very Important to Attend-Multi-Agency Resource Center (MARC) Event Scheduled in Kearney for Flood Impacted Citizens: On behalf of the American Red Cross Serving Nebraska, and the Buffalo County Emergency Management Office, a Multi-Agency Resource Center (MARC) or “One Stop Shop” has been established on the following dates and locations in Kearney:
Wednesday, July 17, 2019 – Salvation Army located at 1710 Central Avenue, Kearney. Operating hours from 12:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
Friday, July 19, 2019 – University of Nebraska at Kearney (UNK) Student Union Center located at 1013 West 27th Street, Kearney. Operating hours from 12:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
Trained caseworkers will be available at the MARC to help people create personal recovery plans, navigate paperwork and locate assistance for their specific disaster-caused needs such as housing information, groceries, clothing, medicine, household items, clean up support and financial assistance. Representatives from nonprofit and religiously-affiliated disaster relief organizations will be on hand at the MARC to assist disaster survivors.
In addition, agencies will be available that may help with recovery assistance such as debris removal, rebuilding and repair of homes. Individuals and families can meet with agencies for referrals or other recovery services especially if a family is not eligible for government assistance or if that assistance is inadequate to meet long-term needs.
Individuals and families applying for assistance are required to bring identification showing address and proof of residence to be eligible for assistance from some agencies.
Residential Flood Refuse Collection: The City of Kearney announces that starting Monday, July 22, 2019 residents that have flood damage refuse must contact the City’s Utilities Department at 308-233-3617 to schedule flood related refuse pick up.
The Kearney Area Solid Waste Agency Landfill will still accept flood related refuse free of charge until further notice during normal operating hours. The landfill hours for accepting refuse are from 8:00 am to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 2:00 p.m. Saturday, and closed on Sunday.

The Kearney Jubilee Center: If you or someone you know is in need of food, bottled water and clothing, they are ready to assist you. Located at 2523 Ave. A is open from 8am till 7pm Monday through Friday. Phone 308-234-3880
Salvation Army: They are equipped with food, cleaning supplies, and toiletries for those in need and those who are assisting those in need. Located at 1719 Central Ave, Kearney. Phone 308-234-9998. Hours for emergency services and food pantry: Tuesday 9-noon and 1-5, Wednesday 9-1, Thursday 1-5, Friday 9-1.
